When Will Exuma reopen?
The Bahamian Government is constantly re-evaluating the Covid pandemic to determine when it is safe to reopen our borders. We have weekly updates by our Prime Minister, so the latest date when the borders reopen is 15th October 2020. In the meantime we welcome inquiries for stays from November 2020 onwards.
We appreciate that we are all in a period of uncertainty and you, our future guests need assurance that for any bookings made after 1st September 2020, that you have the opportunity to change the dates if circumstances change and your original choice of dates become unavailable due to the pandemic.
We have set up a system to protect your interests, see the details below.
Protecting your Deposit
We are accepting bookings for couples from November 2020 and for bookings received after 1st September 2020 we will ask future guests to make a deposit of 50% of the quoted total to confirm their booking. If Covid19 causes your dates to be unavailable you will have an option to change the dates without penalty or receive a full refund when cancelling 30 days or more prior to arrival.
Protecting Your Health
We are well aware that we need to take steps to protect your health and our lockdown time has provided the opportunity to plan for “deep cleaning” which we will personally supervise between visits.
All surfaces, doors, windows, appliances, crockery and utensils will be machine washed and cleaned using recommended chemicals. Mattresses are encased in covers which will be changed between guests. Linens and soft fabrics will be washed, cleaned, sprayed and dried. Because this will take more time, we will not be accepting same day turnarounds.
We will be asking guests to practice social distancing and we have updated our guest guide book. So stay safe and keep in touch by e mail.
Why Vacation in Exuma
Exuma has practiced lockdown , with no flights into the islands for over 2 months.
Exuma has had few cases of Covid19.
Exuma’s many beaches are never crowded, in fact it is rare to find other visitors on a beach.
Moriah Harbour Cay is directly in front of Harbour View rental. This 16,000 acre National Park can only be reached by kayak (not by local rental boat) and many of our guests have expressed surprise and delight at how the massive island is almost always deserted. See our guest reviews for more information.
Food for thought: It is much easier to practice social distancing in a rental apartment for two, than in an hotel.
